The “New” Board of Barbering and Cosmetology

Printer Friendly Version

The State Agency that has been known as the Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology for the past six months will once again become a Board on January 1. Any changes during this transition will be internal and minimal, and will not affect the services we provide to our consumers, applicants and licensees.

However, with the start of the New Year, the Board will be looking to expand its outreach efforts in order to make itself more accessible to the public. Several Board publications have already been translated into Spanish and Vietnamese, and we are in the process of updating and translating our rules and regulations. We are also looking to attend more consumer and industry outreach events throughout the year.

Look for us at the following events:

  • January 17 – 18

    Asian American Expo 2009
    1101 W. McKinley Avenue
    Pomona, California

  • January 18

    Vietnamese New Year Tet Festival
    766 Geary Street
    San Francisco, California

  • January 31 – February 2

International Salon & Spa Expo (ISSE)
    Long Beach Convention Center
    300 East Ocean Boulevard
    Long Beach, California

Also, look for us this spring at various locations throughout California, where we’ll be conducting town hall meetings and demonstrations on how to correctly clean and disinfect different types of pedicure foot spas.

For more information on these events or questions about the Board, please visit our Web site at  www.barbercosmo.ca.gov, or call us at (800) 952-5210.
